The CCUU Drum Circle is here! The first drum cirlce was April 9th with an amazing turnout.
No experience is necessary – there will be a facilitator on hand to guide the group in various rhythms. Please bring any and all hand drums and hand percussion you have so that we might share with those who have none. (We can't guarantee availability of instruments, but we can probably get creative).
Drumming is a fantastic way to release tension and nurture your primal creative spirit. Kids respond to it as a fun method of self-expression. We want to make this a monthly event, so please bring your enthusiasm and energy.
Don't worry, even if you think you're rhythmically challenged. Once you begin you'll find rhythms inside of you, you never knew you had. All you need to do is participate and the rhythms and energy of the drum circle will pull out of you exactly what you need to fully contribute to the group.
Skill level is much less important than how much of yourself you contribute to the experience. If every player is here to share their spirit and have fun, the musical part of the drum circle will take care of itself. We also encourage non percussive instruments at our circle. Dancers are not only welcome but encouraged!
If you are interested in purchasing a drum, please visit The Drum Pad in Palatine http://www.thedrumpad... and support local business or online if you prefer http://www.dogstardru... or http://www.x8drums.co...
Kids are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up and/or ask questions.
This event is sponsored and organized by CCUU (Countryside Church Unitarian Universalist). The group will be facilitated by Jeffrey Hamrick, the Director of Music and Pianist. Journey Inward Group is just posting the information for those people who want to attend an evening of Experiential drumming. We hope to see you at this night of fun and merriment!
